Gambling revenue in Nevada edged up 1.6% year-on-year to $1.27bn in September, despite a decline in slots revenue.

Revenue for the month was marginally higher than $1.25bn in September 2022. The total was also 5.0% ahead of $1.21bn in Nevada in August of this year.

Slots were again the primary source of revenue in Nevada, generating $814.6m during the month of September. However, this was 5.1% less than in the same month last year.

Multi-denomination slots were the game of choice for consumers, drawing $473.9m worth of revenue, up 5.7%. Penny slots collected $249.0m, which was 16.8% lower than in 2022.

Nevada baccarat revenue rockets 85.8%

Meanwhile, table, counter and card games revenue increased 16.6% to $456.0m. Baccarat proved most popular with players, generating $148.8m in revenue, up 85.8% on last year.

As for other games, blackjack revenue climbed 12.9% to $97.7m and revenue from craps increased 12.2% to $36.5m. However, roulette revenue slipped 8.9% to $36.9m.

There was also a 13.2% drop in Pai Gow poker revenue to $11.0m, although three-card poker edged up 0.4% to $10.7m.

Sports betting revenue slips 11.8% in September

As for sports betting, revenue from sports pool wagering declined 11.8% in September to $62.3m. The start of the new NFL season meant football was the leading sport to bet on, drawing $38.7m in revenue.

Baseball betting revenue hit $16.1m, although basketball wagers generated a loss of $328,000 and hockey $439,000. Parlay cards generated $911,000 in revenue and other sports $7.2m.

It was also noted that mobile betting accounted for $29.0m of all sports wagering revenue.

Las Vegas Strip revenue exceeds $740m

Focusing on activity on the Las Vegas Strip, total revenue from the region hit $741.2m. This was 6.9% ahead of September last year.

Slots revenue on the Strip was down 6.4% to $383.1m. However, table, counter and card games revenue jumped 26.3% to $358.1m, This was helped by an 87.8% rise in baccarat revenue.

Strip sports pool revenue slipped 3.9% to $31.2m, with $12.7m coming from mobile bets.
